Battle of Saratoga
The Battle of Saratoga took place on the 17th of October, 1777 Major General Horatio Gates and Brigadier Benedict Arnold commanded the American army. Major General John Burgoyne commanded the British and German force. The British wore red coats and bearskin caps. The German Infantry wore blue coats and retained Prussian style grenadier mitre with brass front plate. The Americans forced the surrender of Burgoyne’s force. With the American victory at Saratoga gave France enough confidence about there abilities that they let the Americans enter the war with them as allies. And they would provide money and military support. France played a big part in Americas success.
